Bungalow Quilting

Bungalow Quilting - The Uptown in Any Town

Fun at Spring Market

May 26, 2016 by Judy

We had a great time at Spring Market. It was especially memorable for me because I had a lot going on. I had a book demo and signing, I had made all those umbrellas for the Westminster Fibers booth, and I got to see my fabric designs for Andover on Storyboard. Those are still top secret, under wraps until the reps start showing it. I can’t wait. Here is a picture of me and Amy Butler, discussing the umbrella that is in her booth. If you check out her facebook page, you can catch a video of her with the umbrella.

Then, I got with my girls that I buy the Pdf downloads from. It’s a great pattern company that sells patterns to shops in pdf format. The customer comes and sees the sample, gets a free card for the pattern and goes home and purchases it from their own computer. It is awesome. It saves so much space, and there is no worries about losing the pattern or only using it for one size, as you can print it in any size you want. You can print it as many times as you want to so it’s multi use. It makes so much sense. We’re going to have a webinar in it very soon.

I had the distinct priviledge of meeting Erin Michaels, who designs for Moda. Her father is actually the owner of Moda Fabrics. How fun would that be! She is the one that is always designing the paint by number fabric that is such a big hit in my shop. This time she has paint by number fabric with kitties and birds on it. Uh oh, it’s a troubling combination since my little Hermoine often leaves a bird at my door. (Dead)!!!

So as if that wasn’t enough excitement. I had made 9 umbrellas for Westminster Fibers and their booth, as mentioned above. Tula Pink was holding her umbrella and I got my picture taken with her.

And here’s the umbrella as part of the display.

Then, as I had promised, I bought a ton of the new ruffle fabric and polka dot tulle to bring back to the shop. Only, I bought so much that I shipped it back. I can’t wait until it gets here so that I can start making samples. Crazy cute!

I guess if someone asked me what the best part of market was I would have to say that it was seeing how many different substrates are being used for sewing. It’s not just about cotton sheeting anymore. There are quilts and garments being made with Chambray, with ruffle fabrics, knits, and of course the new double guaze, which I also ordered a ton of!

Come in to the shop and get a good look at what’s hot right now.
