Bungalow Quilting

Bungalow Quilting - The Uptown in Any Town

Umbrella Class

March 5, 2024 by Judy

Would you love to learn how to make an umbrella from regular quilting cotton that is waterproofed afterward? Of course you would. You’ve been waiting to do this.

This umbrella is made with every panel being different. You can make them with every panel being the same such as this one:

Or you can make the kaleidoscope style like this one:

They all require different amounts of fabric.

When: Saturday April 13th, 9:30-3:30

Where: TBD but most likely St. Peter’s Episcopal church 217 Houston Street Ripon Wi.

Cost: $45 + umbrella and pattern

Supplies needed:

  1. Sewing machine in working order. Must be a machine that you are very familiar with and have sewn on very recently. Cleaned and oiled.
  2. Neutral Thread (light to medium gray or beige, depending on your fabric)
  3. Basic sewing supplies such as pins, seam ripper etc.
  4. Safety pins that are 1 inch long or 1 1/4 inch long no longer or shorter
  5. scotch tape
  6. scissors for paper
  7. scissors for fabric
  8. Fabric: 4 1/2 yards if doing Kaleidoscope style plus 1/2 yard of 44” wide interfacing. If doing basic style with same fabric all over, and it’s a tossed allover print you will need 2 1/2 yards. If doing a one way print 4 1/2 yards. If doing every other panel 2 1/2 yards of 2 different fabrics. If doing every panel different, 5/8 yards of 8 different fabrics. Make sure to check with me for any other types of ideas.
  9. No need for rotary cutter or mat.

We will have 1/2 hour for lunch so bring a lunch or go through a drive-through.

Bring a friend! This will be so much fun.
