Bungalow Quilting

Bungalow Quilting - The Uptown in Any Town

Bulky Hat

December 20, 2015 by Judy

Well, this weather has not been the most conducive to wearing all these cute bulky things that we knit up. It’s too warm. When did I ever think that we would say this in Wisconsin?

I made this adorable hat for Peter’s girlfriend. Peter is my 19 year old son. He has been dating this lovely girl for a while. I know. I try not to get attached. They’re very young. I almost never give or make gifts for girlfriends or boyfriends. It’s a recipe for heartbreak. Once I made a quilt for my daughter’s boyfriend. That worked out. They’re married now with a baby. So, that one wasn’t so bad. But, when they’re this young it’s a bad idea to get really invested.

So I broke my own rule and made this hat for Kate. She doesn’t go on my blog. I’m sure she has better things to do with her time. She won’t be seeing this. I put it on and I really like it. I am going to make one for myself. It’s a perfect fit. I got the pattern off of Ravelry for free. I changed up the decreases at the end, but otherwise I made no deviations. Oh, and I made it a little shorter. Didn’t want it to be slouchy. I know people like the slouch hats but to me they look messy. Personal preference. The yarn was something from the shop that is on sale. It is a little pricey, so now that it’s on sale people have been buying it and it works up great. It’s washable.

So here it is. I should not look at myself in pictures. It makes me realize how old I am!
