Bungalow Quilting

Bungalow Quilting - The Uptown in Any Town

Fractured 4-Patch Class

February 7, 2024 by Judy

Can you believe that these quilts are all the same? Would you like to know how this is accomplished? Well step right up. You can learn to make this and have it look different every single time.

Take this class on March 23rd. Here are all of the details.

Photos from top to bottom are Teeny Tiny Tepee Town, Precious Metals, Pink Diamonds and Fractured 4 Patch. They are all in my book “Sensational Quilts for Scrap Lovers” (C&T Publishing). The only one that is not in that book is Pink Diamonds, and that one is from “Quilt as You Go for Scrap Lovers”. It’s the same exact technique. What you need for this class will vary depending on which one you want to make. So print this page out and get started planning your class and quilt.

When: March 23rd 2024 9:00 a.m. -4:30 p.m.

Where: To be determined but most likely St. Peter’s Episcopal Church. Will be somewhere in Ripon.

Cost: $80

Objectives: In this class the student will

  1. Learn a rapid cutting technique for scrap quilting
  2. Learn how to select colors and placement of colors for impact
  3. Learn the importance of primary, secondary and tertiary design
  4. Learn concepts of color theory– Color theories and a) the meaning of hue, tint, shade, b) what is intensity and saturation c) how and why to use neutrals and eye rest
  5. Placement of blocks for the design of the quilt

*****This is a process oriented class and you may not finish the quilt top during class however, you will leave with a deep understanding of all of the class objectives. You can choose to make this quilt any size you wish.

Lunch break will occur from 12:00-1:00. It is recommended that you bring a lunch or buy lunch at one of Ripon’s downtown establishments.

Class Level: Intermediate

Materials:

****Note: Please make sure to pay attention to this materials list. I will have fat quarters available for purchase on the day of class in case you don’t have enough of something. Make sure that your sewing machine is in excellent working order. It must be a sewing machine that you have recently sewn on. Do not bring a sewing machine that you have never sewn on before. I won’t have time to teach you how to thread or use your machine. Thanks in advance.

Do not bring Charm Packs. These are not large enough and will not work for these color schemes.
