Bungalow Quilting

Bungalow Quilting - The Uptown in Any Town

In Shop Mini Swap

January 4, 2016 by Judy

How many of you have done mini-swaps on Instagram? Quite a few, I bet. I just finished one and it was really fun. I haven’t received my mini quilt yet, but I have sent mine off. In this one, you could choose to send internationally or stay in the states. I figured that since I am older and more established, I should be generous and choose an international partner. I know that some of the younger girls or men probably are saving their every last penny for fabric, and so would choose to ship only in the states. Well, I got a swap partner from Australia! I don’t know who my swap person is that is sending to me, but I can’t wait to find out. I can’t wait to see the mini quilt!

Well, I got to thinking. I should do an “In Shop Mini Swap”. It would be a great idea to have us share locally. So, here’s how it goes.

Here’s how it works.

1. Come in and sign up and get a free piece of fabric to use in your mini quilt. You must come in to the shop, it can’t be mailed.
2. Sign up time ends January 31st, and you can call in to sign up.
3. You will be notified of who your swap partner is after January 31st by email. You must provide your name, address phone      number and email when signing up.
4. Make a mini quilt, 24″ x 24″ that includes the fabric for your swap partner. This is kept secret. Don’t tell who you’re giving your quilt to. However, you can share many pictures of your project on instagram, facebook or emailed to me for the website.
5. You have until April 15th to finish your mini quilt. You will remember this because it’s tax day!
6. Join in the party for the swap meet! We will do a wine and cheese party and swap our mini quilts. If you can’t make it, you can always mail your mini quilt to your partner. Party will be April 17th, Sunday at 2:00 p.m.
7. Post your progress on the Bungalow Facebook page or Instagram using the #inshopminiswap and you can also post ideas for others to do.
8. If you sign up to do this, you must follow through. There will be a swap partner on the other side who is counting on a mini quilt from you. But remember, you will also receive and awesome quilt, and make a new friend in the process.
Here’s the fabric for the mini swap. It’s a piece of Cotton and Steel from Kimberly Kight from the Cookie Book Collection. It’s a great piece. Not too hard for anyone to use.
