Knitting in the…..Apple Store?

December 28, 2017 by Judy

So I needed a new i-phone, for a number of reasons. And, yesterday, when I went to update my computer, it wouldn’t update. This necessitated a trip to the Apple Store in Madison. There are a number of options for Apple Stores in Wisconsin, all of them equal distance from my house, oddly enough. But, the one in Madison has the advantage of being close to my Bernina dealership, and

Cuddle Scarf Clinic

December 24, 2017 by Judy

We had a wonderful time at our scarf clinic. We had 2 afternoons dedicated to making “Minky” scarves. I don’t like to use the term minky because it lumps in all of the other plush fabrics. We carry Shannon Cuddle in our shop. It is the highest quality minky type fabric. It sews up so much easier than all other brands. The plush doesn’t shed save for the cut edge.

New Kitchen Window Shades

December 6, 2017 by Judy

These are my new kitchen window shades. They are made using my shade kits. The shade kits are so much fun. You can personalize them. How many, many times as a shop owner have I heard customers say “I love this fabric but I don’t know what to do with it”? Well, far too many. I just had to come up with a few things that people could use their

These Chairs are Just Too Fun!

October 1, 2017 by Judy

So a couple of months back I got this wild hair to make butterfly chairs. Why, you ask? Why does a man climb a mountain or a quilter make a quilt? Because they can! I love to use fabric for so many more things than just making quilts. I love fabric so I want to be doing something with it all the time, every day! I especially love the Shannon

Window Shades

September 12, 2017 by Judy

I have finally made window shades for my bedroom. I found the perfect fabric. I knew that if I didn’t make them soon the fabric would be sold. So, I grabbed the Robert Kaufman fabric and went to town. Putting up the brackets is the part that takes me the longest to do. It’s incredibly easy, but I have to scout around and find the ladder, the drill, the drill

Hand basting…a metaphor for life

August 22, 2017 by Judy

I have entered posts about sewing with ruffle fabric in the past, but there were a few specifics with this dress that I wanted to point out. First of all, people shouldn’t be afraid to sew with Ruffle Fabric. It looks scary initially but what you have to remember the whole time that you’re doing it is that it’s polyester. For some reason, polyester got a bad rap. We used

The Perfect Sewing Project

July 28, 2017 by Judy

When I decided to do a pajama clinic, I really thought that I would have adults signing up. Well, I did. But I also had the grandmother of a 12 year old call me. Emma wasn’t new to me. Last summer I taught her how to do a skirt and a couple other small projects for 4-H. So, when Pat called me, I thought “sure, why not.” The thing about
