Well with patterns as easy as this, there’s no reason for not sewing them up. I love to sew garments. I hear so many people say that they don’t bother because it’s cheaper to buy the clothing. Is it really? And is that the point? It’s cheaper to buy canned foods and pre-prepared foods but do you eat that way for that reason or do you buy fresh wonderful ingredients
Here’s an idea for your next breakfast party. What, you don’t have breakfast parties? Well, time to start! Have a brunch sometime and invite friends over. Cook an egg dish. This will be tons of fun! I got the idea for these placemats from a book my Granddaughter has. I was reading it to her and it was all about colors and shapes. What a great idea for modern placemats.

This past week I had the distinct pleasure of working with Nancy Zieman. While I have always been a fan of Nancy’s I never realized the extent to which her grace and knowledge have influenced the sewing world. In case you’re reading this and you don’t know who she is, Nancy has been appearing on PBS for many decades. She has a show about sewing and all things sewing related.
So what’s really in the spirit of scrap quilting? It comes from so many things. It comes from wanting to use things up. It is the original version of being “green”. It’s all about memories, and it’s all about walking through each piece of fabric and remembering where you bought it, what it’s original intent was and what you loved about it. It’s a lot of work to write a book. The sense of accomplishment is great when it’s done. It’s fun to see it on the bookshelf, and it’s even more fun when someone buys it from you. But you never really know just how amazing it is going to feel until you actually experience this–when someone makes a quilt from your book and you see it finished. That’s how excited
