Bungalow Quilting - The Uptown in Any Town

Sunshine and Shadows Block

September 28, 2016 by Judy

As promised, I am going to do a tutorial on one of my favorite blocks from my book “Quilts for Scraplovers: 16 Projects Start with Simple Squares”, published by C&T Publishing. It’s a great block, and partly why I love it is because it’s so versatile in terms of layout. It can be laid out in so many different ways. Here are some of the various ways that it can

Knit on, Purl off

September 25, 2016 by Judy

So I was on the plane, headed toward Milwaukee from San Francisco. I had my knitting. I was finished. I could now tear out the crochet stitching for the provisional cast on, and start my kitchener stitch. Where’s my pattern? Dig, dig dig. Oh no. My pattern’s not here. Well, I can just go back on to Ravelry and find out how to do the kitchener. Yes, yes, I have

More from Quilting in the Garden

September 23, 2016 by Judy

I’m still in California. I am just reeling over how beautiful the Golden Gate Bridge is. I love art deco design. I also love any type of design from the arts and crafts movement. The Arts and Crafts movement occured during the progressive era, or just after the turn of the century, some time in the early 1920s. Why does that design sensibility just sing to me? Everyone has their

September 15, 2016 by Judy

I’m so excited to be teaching in Livermore California next week. I’ve never been to that part of California. Actually, I’ve only been to California twice before in my life. The shop will be well tended to by my excellent employees, so I am not worried at all to leave things behind. The class that I am teaching is at a show that takes place in a garden center. I’m

Our Newest Product–Window Shades!

September 13, 2016 by Judy

We have a new baby at the Bungalow and it’s our window shades. These window shades are a clutch roller system. They’re not on a spring, so they don’t slip down throughout the course of the day. What I mean by this is that many people try and cover a regular, spring loaded shade with fabric. If you do this, the fabric is too heavy for the spring loaded shade

My State of Wisconsin Quilt

August 29, 2016 by Judy

I actually have tendonitis in my hands. I thought it was arthritis but my husband said it was a tendonitis from all the sewing that I have been doing. Right before Quilt Expo it is crunch time. I have been working on things all year, and now it’s about a week and a half away. I love quilt expo. I am actually teaching this year. It will be about my
