Bungalow Quilting

Bungalow Quilting - The Uptown in Any Town

How to make a Sweet Drawstring Bag for Projects or for Gifts

December 21, 2019 by Judy

For this project you will need 1/2 yard of fabric and 2 yards of cotton cording cut into 2 pieces, 1 yard each. I have so many projects going at any given time, and so do my friends. They are knitters and quilters and sewists. One of the best ways to store your projects and keep them free from dust, dirt and fading is to put them into project bags.

Scarf tip for Seal Cuddle

December 16, 2019 by Judy

I made an infinity scarf with Shannon Fabrics Seal Cuddle. I honestly couldn’t wait to do it. Following is a quick tip… I saw Judy’s pink one that she featured previously in this blog, and also FELT it. Oh my – it is really luscious – soft, warm and “silky” … a new description for a faux fur fabric, for me anyway. The one pictured is the one I made

Sew Your Own Skirt Without a Pattern!

November 20, 2019 by Judy

I just wanted a skirt pattern. I have many. None of them suited the bill. I knew in my mind’s eye what I wanted. So, I found the identical pattern to what I wanted, only to find that it was out of print. Hmmm. I had seen this skirt on ModCloth. It’s a clothing site. It has THE CUTEST things ever. They are making skirts out of prints that you

Minky scarf… soft, warm, stylish… and easy!

November 6, 2019 by Judy

I made a minky scarf as proof that a faux fur scarf can be stylish and easy to make. Young women would especially like this piece, especially if chosen in a minky print that is soft and fun. See the photos for the one I made. I found a pattern that has an opening on one end of it to string the other side through, thus holding it in place.

Casserole Caddy – finished! Tips on a binding with a curve…

November 6, 2019 by Judy

The caddy is finished and looks so pretty. It’s especially nice with the oranges in the fabric; just when you’d want a warm casserole to take to someone (I mean in Fall and Winter!) See the photo which shows my 9×13 pan in it. The edges fold right over the pan, and the handles (not shown) will not allow it to open up. A tip: There are 4 curved edges

All Roads Lead Home Wall Hanging

November 4, 2019 by Judy

Here is a fabulous pattern made up by Kim Bates. She is a Bungalow Honey! She did a fantastic job with this panel that is available in the shop from Moda. Here’s the link to the panel. https://www.etsy.com/listing/700328396/holiday-lodge-panel-by-deb-strain-on-tan?ga_search_query=deb%2Bstrain&ref=shop_items_search_5&frs=1 There are a lot of prints on this panel, and she made some darling pillows to match. Here is what the panel itself looks like. It’s pretty impressive that there are so

The Backyard Caddy

November 3, 2019 by Judy

I am really out of my wheel house. I rarely make anything other than garments or quilts. Often times I make tablerunners and napkins, or table accessories. But, I rarely if ever make things that require partitions, heavy duty stabilizers etc. Oh I have made my share of bags to be sure. I sew a lot of things with alternative types of fabric such as Cuddle. I’ve written an entire

Simple Sassy Skirt

October 28, 2019 by Judy

This is one of the easiest skirts I have ever made. It was such fun too. I don’t like to stock things in the shop that are limited to people that are of only one size, if you get my drift. I like to make everyone feel pretty, no matter their size. So I try to seek out patterns that are workable for many people. And why not? We try

Casserole Caddy – Cutting it out

October 27, 2019 by Judy

All the pieces of the caddy were put into place, so now I had to cut out the shape of it, just by following the lines on the printed cotton batting. FIRST, though, you will want to pin the edges down so you can cut out the curves without the fabric moving. Next, flip the caddy over; the back should be facing up. Cut out the shape of the caddy

Casserole Caddy – new way of quilting a craft

October 21, 2019 by Judy

Sewing right onto the cotton batting This is a new project for me. Judy asked for a casserole caddy for her “Blitzen” event on November 7. (A casserole caddy is a quilted “envelope” of sorts for carrying a hot casserole to an event). I volunteered. She handed me an all-in-one package that included instructions and a large piece of cotton batting. It is called a “Quilt as You Go” pattern;
